Nominal Pressure PN Series (Common for GB, EN & Domestic Industry)
PN refers to the nominal pressure at normal temperature, the main pressure marking method for domestic industrial gate valves. Common pressure ratings include:PN10, PN16, PN25, PN40, PN63, PN100, PN160.
1. PN10 and PN16 are low-pressure gate valves, suitable for conventional low-pressure applications such as municipal water supply & drainage, HVAC and general circulating water systems.
2. PN25 and PN40 are medium-pressure ratings, applicable for medium-pressure pipelines conveying oil, clean water, compressed air, etc.
3. PN63 and above are high-pressure and ultra-high-pressure industrial gate valves, specially used for severe high-pressure conditions such as steam, high-temperature media, high-pressure oil and gas, and chemical raw materials.
All industrial gate valves undergo shell strength and sealing pressure tests in accordance with standards to eliminate leakage and deformation during industrial operation.
Class Series (American Standards, for Export)
Export industrial gate valves adopt the ANSI Class pressure system, complying with overseas industrial project specifications. Common ratings:Class 150, Class 300, Class 600, Class 900, Class 1500.
1. Class 150 (approx. equivalent to PN16) is suitable for general overseas industrial applications.
2. Class 300 and Class 600 are medium and high-pressure ratings, widely used in overseas petroleum, chemical and power industries.
3. High Class ratings such as Class 900 and Class 1500 are designed for ultra-high-pressure and high-temperature extreme conditions, including offshore platforms, refineries and high-pressure steam pipelines.
The Class system is used with pressure-temperature ratings and is more suitable for complex working conditions with pressure and temperature fluctuations.
Core Functions & Working Principle of Gate Valves

The core working principle is to realize pipeline on-off through vertical lifting of the gate, with a purely mechanical structure and extremely low failure rate without complex electric control.
When opening the valve, rotating the stem lifts the gate fully out of the flow path, allowing smooth medium passage with minimal flow resistance.
When closing, rotating the stem lowers the gate until the sealing surfaces tightly contact, achieving forced sealing and completely blocking medium flow to prevent backflow and leakage.Both rising stem and non-rising stem structures follow this principle, adapting to different installation and operation scenarios.
